Things to do in Connecticut this Labor Day weekend 2024

From a jazz festival to apple fritters to corn mazes, here's what's happening in Connecticut this weekend!

CONNECTICUT, USA — Labor Day weekend may be considered the “unofficial end of summer,” but that doesn’t mean there aren’t plenty of events happening across the state to help end the season on a high note!

Zoom in on Lime Rock Park in Lakeville this weekend for their Historical Festival! If you're a car enthusiast or know someone who is, this festival is a must-attend! There are all kinds of racing competitions, a swap meet, automobilia, guest speakers, food vendors and more. Racing categories range from pre-war and open-wheel cars to sports and formula cars. On Sunday, nearly 1,000 cars and motorcycles will be on display throughout the park. Times vary; learn more about the festival and a schedule of events here.

Bring some momentum to the music in The Connecticut River & Roots Festival in Windsor! This is a free community festival of music, food and fun! There will be musical entertainment including roots and folk musicians, speakers, dance performances and instrument demonstrations. There will also be vendors and food trucks, a wine and beer tent and other fun activities! The festival will be held on September 1st from 12pm-5pm. Find out more here.

It's fair season in Connecticut, and this weekend marks one of the state's oldest agricultural shows! The Woodstock Fair is the state's second oldest agricultural fair and showcases agriculture and community through interactive exhibits, shows and competitions. There's plenty of Greek festivities at Odyessy '24 this Labor Day weekend! The Greek Festival runs Friday through Monday and is a celebration of Greek food, music, dancing, and more. Take dance lessons, shop at the Greek Marketplace featuring handmade and traditional products, and sample delicious Greek dishes! Admission is free. Learn more about the festival here.

Come to Redding this weekend for the 63rd Annual Mark Twain Library Book Fair! Over 60,000 books will be for sale in 72 categories! Admission is free (there is also a $20 early bird fee for Friday only), and there are also free parking and refreshments for purchase. Sundays are half price, and on Monday a full case of books is $10. Learn more about the book fair here.

If there's one thing that heralds the coming of fall, it's a good apple fritter. Lyman Orchards is hosting its Corn Maze and Apple Fritter Festival this Saturday and Sunday! It's two days of events for the whole family, including horse-drawn carriage rides, live music, picking your own apples and pears, and even square dancing! And finally, if you want to enjoy even more music this weekend, head to Bridgeport on Saturday for the 4th Annual Bridgeport Jazz Festival! Performances include local jazz bands such as The Keynotes Jazz Band, Alivia, The Souful Jazz Trio and many more.
