Ramy Rabia talks about Egypt's match against Cape Verde

Al Ahly and Egyptian defender Ramy Rabia discussed the national team’s preparations for the upcoming match against Cape Verde.

The Pharaohs will face Cape Verde in Cairo on September 6 before travelling to Gaborone on September 10 to face Botswana in the opening leg of their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualification campaign.

Rabia is now expected to play in both games after Mohamed Abdelmonem announced his retirement from the national team following his move to French club OGC Nice.

The 31-year-old has played 24 international matches, scored three goals and hopes to improve his international record.

Speaking to ON Time Sports, Rabia said: “We are well prepared for both games. We have to win at home, that is our only goal.”

“This will make life easier for us in the group and sends a message to the [rest of the teams in the] Competition.

“We had [time to] Calm and preparations are going well. Training sessions are going according to plan and we are ready.

“The presence of the fans gives us a boost and gives the game more meaning. We want the fans to fill the stadium because we play football for them.”
