US Open men's semifinals: Live updates as Jannik Sinner faces Jack Draper for a place in the final in New York

The 2024 US Open men's and women's singles have produced some surprises at the end, with new names going deep and reaching the semifinals. In the women's event, Jessica Pegula, who is in her first Grand Slam final, will face Aryna Sabalekena for the title on Saturday, and the men's tournament will also see an American player in a major final for the first time.

First, however, world number one and 2024 Australian Open winner Jannik Sinner will face Briton Jack Draper, who is enjoying the best Grand Slam run of his career. Draper made it to the fourth round of last year's US Open, where he was knocked out by Andrey Rublev. If he can win the title, Sinner would become the first Italian to win two Grand Slams in the same season.

The second semifinal pits two Americans against each other: Taylor Fritz (number 12) and Frances Tiafoe (number 20). Fritz is in the semifinals of the US Open – and of all Grand Slam tournaments – for the first time, while Tiafoe has made it to the last four in New York for the second time. In 2022, he was eliminated in a five-set thriller by eventual champion Carlos Alcaraz. Both faced top-10 players in the quarterfinals, with Fritz defeating number 4 seed Alexander Zverev and Tiafoe knocking out number 9 seed Grigor Dimitrov.
