ONE 168 loses important main card feature fight

Kade Ruotolo vs. Mikey Musumeci takes place this weekend on September 7th at the ONE 168 event.

Ruotolo announced the news on Instagram on September 1.

“I've unfortunately been dealing with injuries,” Ruotolo wrote. “I know a lot of people, including Mikey and I, were looking forward to the ONE match in Denver, but unfortunately it's been cancelled.”

The pure grappling fight was supposed to be an exhibition for the ONE Championship, where the best grappling talents would compete against each other in one of the main fights.

Ruotolo did not comment on his injuries, which he likely sustained at the Craig Jones Invitational (CJI) on August 16-17, where he won the 176-pound (80 kg) event and received $1 million in prize money. While it wasn't the best decision to have half of ONE's grappling show compete so close to ONE 168, CJI was a milestone in professional BJJ with an irresistible purse.

We hope Ruotolo recovers quickly and that they either rebook him for the Musumeci fight soon or find a suitable opponent for him at ONE 168.
