Jack Draper vs Jannik Sinner LIVE: Latest US Open tennis results and updates as the British No.1 tries to reach the final

US Open ball boy catches virus that interrupted quarterfinals

Jack Draper continues his journey at the US Open as the British No. 1 faces Jannik Sinner for a place in Sunday's final at Flushing Meadows.

Draper will face the world number one in what will be the second meeting between the two, after Draper won in Queens in 2021.

And the 22-year-old has already produced his best ever Grand Slam performance by reaching his first semi-final without dropping a set, but he will be looking to go one better and become the first Briton to reach a Grand Slam final since Andy Murray in 2016.

His opponent Sinner is embroiled in an anti-doping controversy, but his performances have been confident and he hopes to win his second Grand Slam this year after his breakthrough at the Australian Open.

Later, the American duo Frances Tiafoe and Taylor Fritz will fight for the other place in the final. Follow the latest preparation, score updates and reaction to the men's singles semifinals at the US Open below:

Jannik Sinner was “not the best” on the junior courts, says his US Open rival Jack Draper

Jack Draper remembers Jannik Sinner being the weakest link on the court in their first match, but the British number one knows things will be different in the US Open semi-finals.

Draper became the first Briton to reach the semi-finals in New York since Andy Murray did so on his way to the 2012 title when he defeated Alex de Minaur on Wednesday.

The 22-year-old's breakthrough was helped by the early exit of Carlos Alcaraz, but now he faces the toughest of all tasks in an exciting semi-final on Arthur Ashe Stadium on Friday: He will compete against the world number one.

France Tiafoe ready for “epic” all-American duel with Taylor Fritz at the US Open: “The best should win”

“Let the best man win,” shouted Frances Tiafoe as he fought in a direct duel with Taylor Fritz for the trophy of becoming the first American to reach the final of the US Open since 2006.

“When I play really bad or whatever, and he does the same thing or vice versa, I think we always push each other,” Tiafoe said.

Jessica Pegula secures her place in the US Open final with an exciting comeback against Karolina Muchova

Jessica Pegula celebrated an impressive comeback and reached her first Grand Slam final at the US Open.

The sixth-seeded American looked set to be eliminated as Karolina Muchova won seven straight matches to lead by a set and a break in the semifinals on Arthur Ashe Court.

But she fought back in superb fashion to claim a 1-6, 6-4, 6-2 victory that keeps home hopes of a second consecutive American victory in New York alive.

Pegula wants to follow in the footsteps of last year's winner Coco Gauff, but will have to learn this the hard way, as she will face the clear favorite Aryna Sabalenka in the final on Saturday.

For a player who had previously lost her last six quarterfinals on the biggest stage, it is a chance to win her first Grand Slam title.

Jack Draper vs Jannik Sinner

Draper, the British number one, is playing the tennis of his life at Flushing Meadows. He reached the semi-finals of a Grand Slam tournament without dropping a set for the first time and his dismantling of number 10 seed Alex de Minaur was another sign of his intent.

But now the challenge is getting tougher, with world number one Sinner standing in his way. The pair are similar in age – Draper is 22, Sinner 23 – and have met many times on the junior tour, but their professional careers have collided only once, at the Queen's Club in 2021, when Draper won 7-6, 7-6.

Sinner, who won his first Grand Slam at the Australian Open in January, was not at his best when he defeated Daniil Medvedev in the quarterfinals in what he described as a “strange” match that saw the two trade 1-6 sets halfway through the four-set clash.
