Charles Barkley donates to school in New Orleans based on students' math performance

NBA legend Charles Barkley is making good on a promise he made about four months ago by donating $1 million to a Catholic school in New Orleans where two students unbelievably solved the Pythagorean theorem. Barkley was inspired to make the donation after seeing them on a segment of CBS's “60 Minutes.”

St. Mary's Academy in New Orleans received its first $100,000 donation from Barkley. In a press release Wednesday, the school said it will continue to receive the donation in installments over the next 10 years.

The two students who solved the theorem are Calcea Johnson and Ne'Kiya Jackson, both of whom graduated from the academy and are now in college. The pair solved the Pythagorean theorem, which has puzzled mathematicians for about two centuries.
