Jannik Sinner prepared for an interview with Nick Kyrgios despite criticism

The Australian is working with American broadcaster ESPN while recovering from injury and is giving interviews on the pitch after matches.

Kyrgios is one of the players who has spoken out about Sinner's failed doping tests, saying the Italian should have been banned.

Following the decision to acquit Sinner earlier last week, Kyrgios posted on X: “Ridiculous – whether it was accidental or planned.

“You were tested twice with a banned (steroid) substance… You should be out for 2 years. Your performance was enhanced. Massage cream… Yeah, nice.”

Sinner, who was cleared of any guilt or negligence by an independent court because the banned substance accidentally entered his body, continued his path at the US Open, dismantling American Alex Michelsen 6-4, 6-0 and 6-2.

Sinner said he would be happy to put bygones behind him when he faces Kyrgios in person.

“I don't want to respond to what he said. Anyone can say anything, so it's OK,” Sinner said.

“If that's the case, we'll see. It will certainly be different, but I don't know.

“I don't know what to say. Maybe the reaction will be completely different if I say something now, because you live in this moment.

“But I'm always very relaxed. I'm someone who forgets things pretty quickly.

“As I said, everyone is completely free to say whatever they want, so it is what it is.”
