Tallulah Willis gives update on dad Bruce's health (exclusive)

A perfect day off for Tallulah Willis is full of simple moments.

“Waking up laughing with my partner [musician Justin Acee] would be the best kind of day, and I have to be honest, that happens quite often,” Willis, 30, tells PEOPLE. “And then we take my two bigger dogs for a walk around the neighborhood. If you come at the right time, it's kind of like a dog town hour.”

Not that she's having any days off anytime soon. The Los Angeles-based entrepreneur and artist is now launching a capsule collection from luxury silk brand Kumi Kookoon, called Kumi KøøBuu. Already a fan of the company, Willis contacted them three years ago to discuss a collaboration. The result is bright new shades of dyed silk that are unique to her collection and used in various products such as throws, sheets, duvet covers and pillowcases.

“I presented them with lots of different ideas and then the idea came to focus on the blankets because I was really drawn to them, especially because they have a heavy nature,” says Tallulah, who was diagnosed with autism last year. “And the more I learn about my autism and my sensory perception, the more certain and special that heavy feeling is.”

As often as her schedule allows, “I visit my dad and spend some time with him,” Tallulah says of her father, Bruce, who has frontotemporal dementia. “But whether I'm working or not, I need a break sometimes. So my partner and I often say 'nonverbally' and just sit on the couch and say 'I love you. There's no problem. I just can't talk right now.'”

When she sees her father, Tallulah says it's important to “be open about the visit and know that I'm solidified in advance. I'm OK,” she admits. “I did what I needed to do to make sure I could just be there.”

For now, Bruce is “doing the same thing he did in our last update, which I'm told is good,” Tallulah adds. “But no matter what day it is, my family and I meet him where he is.”
