Bishop Gorman High football coach Brent Browner preaches consistency in game preparation.

The week of training before kick-off usually looks and feels the same regardless of the opponent, he says.

He believes structure is key to a positive outcome on game day, and Gorman has perfected that skill during a 27-game winning streak leading up to today's showdown at Mater Dei in Southern California.

The highly anticipated game will pit the best teams in the country against each other and the winner will have the best chance of being crowned national champion at the end of the season.

Gorman hasn't lost since August 2022, when it squandered a late lead against Mater Dei.

Tonight is not necessarily about revenge, Browner has said repeatedly. After all, these are two different teams.

Rather, tonight is about setting an example in the pursuit of another national title.

Of course, this is not the only game on the agenda.

Liberty is also in California and faces a tough test against 15th-ranked Mission Viejo. Coronado hosts Lincoln from San Diego. The annual rivalry between visiting teams Green Valley and Basic in the Henderson Bowl is renewed and Virgin Valley travels to North Las to challenge Mojave in what may be the closest game on the schedule.
