Gravitas Ventures takes over crime thriller “9 Windows”

Gravitas Ventures has acquired the US and Canadian distribution rights for Lou Simon's crime thriller “9 Windows,” the indie distributor announced on Friday.

The first completely virtual production of its kind from producers Bryce DiCristofalo and Todd Slater of Brick Lane Entertainment is a modern retelling of Alfred Hitchcock's 1954 classic Rear Window.

“9 Windows” is the first full-length live-action film shot entirely on an augmented reality stage. It stars Independent Spirit Award nominee Michael Forsythe (“Arizona Junior,” “The Waterdance”) and Michael Paré (“Streets of Fire,” “Eddie and the Cruisers”).

Gravitas is scheduled to release the film digitally and on cable VOD on October 15.

“Gravitas Ventures is excited to bring '9 Windows' to North American audiences in October. This Hitchcock thriller will be a perfect film for horror fans this Halloween season,” Mackenzie Maguire, acquisitions manager at Gravitas Ventures, said in a statement.

“Technology has changed everything. We no longer have to look through our neighbors' windows because people are willing to share intimate details of their lives on the Internet. That is the real horror,” Simón added.

Read an official synopsis of the film below:

On the day of her graduation, Liza and her parents are driving to a restaurant to celebrate when a truck crashes into their car. Eighteen months after the car accident, Liza is no longer able to walk and is living alone after the death of her parents. Out of a sense of responsibility, Liza spends her days trolling vloggers on a local website. Late at night, a new video of a man setting a dog on fire is uploaded. She reports it to the police, but police detective Boyle can't deal with a misdemeanor. However, when videos surface showing gruesome murders of people, Boyle finally agrees to consult a retired FBI agent to track down the killer. As the murders continue, Liza finds out that the killer is imitating the most gruesome serial killers of all time. She finds the killer's reflection on the knife he used in the second murder and learns the killer's identity. But after helping the police identify him, has she inadvertently become his next target?

The distribution deal for “9 Windows” was brokered by Mackenzie Maquire on behalf of Gravitas Ventures and by producer Slater on behalf of the filmmakers.
