Google Doodle today celebrates the equestrian events at the 2024 Paralympics in Paris

Google Doodle today: The tech giant has unveiled a special Doodle to celebrate the Para athletes who will compete in the equestrian event at the Paris 2024 Paralympics today. The animated Doodle features a small helmeted bird riding a horse, while a hen acts as a referee for the match.

“Galloping for gold! Time to saddle up for the Para Equestrian events at the Château de Versailles,” Google added in its description. Unlike the Olympics, which have three equestrian disciplines, the Para Games have just one, dressage. In this event, both the rider and the horse are judged.

According to the official website Olympics.com, accuracy and quality of riding, artistic finesse, and the horse's gait and stopping are some of the aspects by which the equestrian competitions are judged.

Although para-dressage began as a recreational activity, the first competitions did not take place until the 1970s.

At the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, para-dressage gradually became a part of the Paralympic Games.

With the Equestrian Games scheduled for today, the Paralympics have entered the tenth day of the spectacle. India is currently in 16th place in the overall rankings with 25 medals, including five gold, nine silver and eleven bronze.
