Sexual harassment reported in hotel – Coconut Creek Talk

This is a summary of crime and arrests in Coconut Creek through September 2, 2024, compiled as part of our joint effort with the Coconut Creek Police Department to keep residents informed.

Death

On August 27, 2024, a death – suspicious/unknown – was reported in the Promenade at 4441 Lyons Road.

Property – lost/stolen

On 08/27/2024, a victim of loss/theft of property was reported on N State Road 7.

On August 28, 2024, a property damage victim was reported on State Road 7. A city vehicle was involved in a traffic accident.

Animal bite

On August 27, 2024, an animal bite was reported at Banyan Trails on Woodfield Drive. An animal-on-animal dog bite was reported.

theft

Pet Supplies Plus was the victim of a shoplifting incident on 08/28/2024 at the store location 4839 Coconut Creek Parkway. An adult male stole dog food. The total estimated loss was $481.91.

Kohls was the victim of a shoplifting incident on August 29, 2024 at the store located at 6950 N State Road 7. The total estimated damage was $369. A tabletop grill was stolen.

On 08/30/2024, a theft victim (all other cases) was reported at Walgreens on Coconut Creek Parkway. The total estimated damage was $200. An unauthorized person picked up a narcotics prescription.

Walmart was the victim of a shoplifting incident at 5571 Hillsboro Blvd, reported on 08/28/2024. The estimated total damage was $34.

On 08/28/2024, a theft victim (all others) was reported at Cypress Lake on NW 49 Avenue. The total estimated damage was $11.

Sexual harassment

On August 28, 2024, a victim of sexual assault was reported. The sexual assault occurred at the Hampton Inn.

Disturbance

On August 28, 2024, a victim of Disturbance – Other was reported at Wynmoor, 1001 Wynmoor Circle. A resident caused a disturbance in the clubhouse.

Fraud

On 08/29/2024, a fraud case was reported – use of a credit/debit card at Walmart. The total estimated loss was $209.

resist/hinder

On 8/30/2024, a victim of resisting/obstructing with violence was reported on W Atlantic Blvd. A man engaged in a struggle with officers conducting a drug investigation in Banyan Bay. The man was charged with assault on a police officer, resisting with violence, and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. $9,098 was seized.

Suspicious incident

On August 31, 2024, a suspicious incident was reported in Breckenridge East on NW 41 Terrace as well as a possible “swatting” call.

battery

On September 1, 2024, a victim of physical assault – simple touch/blow – was reported at Centura Parc.

Criminal damage to property

Coconut Creek was the victim of property damage on 09/01/2024 – Government in Cypress Park on NW 49 Terrace. Vandalism and graffiti on the bathroom building were also reported.

attack

On September 1, 2024, a victim of serious bodily harm was reported at Club Caribe.

Arrests

Banks, Nathaniel Antonio James, 23, was arrested on 08/30/2024 for assault on a police officer at 4203 W Atlantic Blvd.

Arcila, Alex, 44, was arrested on 09/01/2024 for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon – domestic violence.

Cotto, Kimarni Dante, 24, was arrested on September 1, 2024 on charges of criminal damage to property valued at over $1,000 at 4808 Coconut Creek Parkway.

Matthews, Angelo Emmanuel, 37, was arrested on 08/28/2024 for trespassing at 100 Lyons Road.
