Toddler stabbed to death by 6-year-old brother in Joliet home – NBC Chicago

Authorities say a 2-year-old boy was stabbed to death by his 6-year-old brother in a Joliet home on Friday afternoon.

According to police, officers responded just before 5:05 p.m. to a report of a home in the 2700 block of Fairway Drive where a child had been stabbed.

When officers arrived, they discovered a 2-year-old boy with multiple stab wounds. A preliminary investigation revealed that his 6-year-old brother had stabbed him with a kitchen knife, officers said.

The two-year-old boy was taken to Ascension St. Joseph Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities said the victim's family is cooperating with the investigation and the Department of Children and Families is working with detectives investigating the incident.
