Student arrested for school bus robbery | Crime

HAMMOND— The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office (TPSO) has arrested a Hammond teenager for stealing from and threatening another student.

Nashaun Porter, 17, was arrested on Friday, September 6, on one count each of simple robbery, disturbing the peace, simple assault, simple damage to property and cyberbullying.

On Thursday, September 5, a Hammond High School student reported that a necklace had been taken from him while riding the school bus home. During the investigation, TPSO officers discovered that the suspect, Porter, later posted a video on social media where he once again threatened the victim that he would harm him at school today. Porter was taken into custody Friday morning.

The TPSO and the Tangipahoa School System thank the community for their partnership in ensuring the highest level of safety at our schools; not only on our school campuses, but also at and around all school-related activities and events.
