A Detroit Lions fan made the ultimate show of bragging to prove his unwavering devotion.

Michael Luchies, a user on X, shared a photo of his past season ticket bills after his status was questioned. Among the years Luchies had tickets for was 2008, when the Lions went winless:

You can pick out pretty much any part of modern Lions history and their fans would have enough heartache to recite the monologue “Tears in the Rain” by Blade RunnerFor decades, the franchise has vacillated between irredeemably bad, merely average, and just good enough to raise your hopes, only to disappoint you at the crucial moment.

That changed last year when Detroit won its first division title since 1993 and was just a half hour away from reaching the Super Bowl.

Now Lions fans are in the unfamiliar position of cheering for a team that is expected to be a legitimate contender and popular among neutral NFL fans. Even putting aside the story of the historic underdog finally winning, Dan Campbell's team averaged the third-most yards (394.8) and fifth-most points (27.1) in 2023.

The better Detroit performs on the field, the greater its success will be.

For many in the Motor City, this current run promises to be a well-deserved reward after years of watching without success.
