Jerod Mayo of the Patriots reacts icily to Bill Belichick's Instagram

Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo hasn't exactly been known for his brevity since being promoted to his new role.

Actually, the exact opposite was the case.

Mayo has, for lack of a better word, gotten himself into trouble several times since January. The Patriots haven't exactly burned through money this offseason, despite what he predicted. Caedan Wallace never really got a chance to compete for the starting left tackle spot, despite what Mayo predicted. Jacoby Brissett will start Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals, even though Mayo said he was outperformed by rookie Drake Maye.

On Friday, however, he was less communicative.

In his final press conference before New England's season opener in Cincinnati, Mayo turned the tables and gave one of his shortest answers yet when asked about his predecessor Bill Belichick joining Instagram.

“I've heard some of the guys talk about it, but I'm not going to talk about it,” Mayo said, according to a video provided by the team.

Icy.

Belichick's social media appearance has caused quite a stir, with both current and former players voicing their opinions on the matter. Mayo even had a member of his team throw a few coffees into the room, although that was to be expected considering it was the 73-year-old's son, Brian.

The Patriots' new coach, however, did not want to comment. He is on his way to Cincinnati.
