Former Clemson wideout dies

A former Clemson Tiger has passed away.

Former wide receiver Diondre Overton, who played for the Tigers from 2016 to 2019, has died. He was only 26 years old.

Overton graduated from Page High School in Greensboro, NC and was a 4-star recruit coming out of high school. He joined the Tigers as a recruit in 2016. He was also part of the Tigers' national title teams in 2016 and 2018.

During his four-year career, he recorded 52 catches for 777 yards and seven touchdowns in 51 games (five starts). He was named a permanent team captain in 2019, was Academic All-ACC and a member of the NFF Hampshire Honor Society. He was also named to the All-ACC Honor Roll twice.

After Clemson, Overton played in the CFL, UFL, European Football League and USFL and was selected by the Memphis Showboats in the USFL Dispersal Draft in January.
