Arkansas man charged with capital crime in connection with wife's death

St. Joe, Arkansas – A homicide investigation is underway after an Arkansas woman was found dead earlier this week.

Searcy County officials were reportedly called to conduct a welfare check at a home in St. Joe, Arkansas, after 75-year-old Jeffrey Stansbery allegedly told staff at a Branson, Missouri, hospital that he had harmed his wife.

Officers then went to investigate the house and found 43-year-old Amanda Stansbery dead inside.

The Searcy County Sheriff's Office then requested assistance from the Arkansas Division of Criminal Investigation in the murder investigation.

As part of the investigation, Jeffrey Stansbery was charged with criminal murder and desecration of a corpse.

He is currently being held in Branson awaiting extradition to Searcy County.
