Live updates on the US Open 2024: Women's final: American Jessica Pegula faces Aryna Sabalenka

Mika Stojsavljevic is the US Open junior singles champion and the first British player to win the tournament since Heather Watson in 2009. Stojsavljevic defeated seventh seed Wakana Sonobe 6-4, 6-4 in an extremely confident performance.

She was able to rely on the power and precision of her first serve, winning 91 percent of the points she played with it, and thus prevailed over Sonobe, whom she had already beaten at the junior tournaments in Wimbledon and at the US Open last year.

Stojsavljevic, 15, reached the final without dropping a single set. Her run included a win over world junior No. 2 Emerson Jones of Australia and she defeated American Iva Jovic in three sets to reach the final.

The 16-year-old Jovic shocked Poland's Magda Linette (number 42 in the world rankings) in the singles main draw and almost knocked Russian number 29, Ekaterina Alexandrova, out of the tournament.
