Halina Reijn – director of Nicole's new film, Babygirl – accepted the festival's award for best actress on behalf of NK… and read a prepared statement from the star.

Nicole's statement begins by announcing the tragic news about her mother. Janelle – which caused astonishment among the audience – and said she had to go home to her family.

Kidman then dedicates the honor to her mother… and says the conflict between art and life is heartbreaking – and she is certainly heartbroken.
