Sehmer sentenced to prison in 2023 for death of tattooed man in Hartland

HARTLAND – The Brookfield man convicted of killing a Delafield man outside a Hartland bar in June 2023 will serve a 12-year sentence, including time in prison.

Kevin Sehmer, 65, who was found guilty of one count of first-degree murder by a Waukesha County jury on Aug. 1 and sentenced Friday, will serve seven years in prison and then five years of extended probation, with credit for the 423 days he has already served since his arrest last year.

The case was related to the death of 39-year-old Josh Davies, who was involved in an altercation with Sehmer at Tabi's Wine Bar, 111 E. Capitol Drive. During a three-day trial that began in late July and in a criminal complaint, prosecutors argued that it was Sehmer who started the fight by harshly criticizing Davies for his arm tattoos, calling them a “sin” and leading to an argument that escalated outside the bar.
