Third quarter

Utah 23, Baylor 6

6:23 – Baylor scored another field goal, this time from 39 yards by Isaiah Hankins, to cut Utah’s lead. Utah 23, Baylor 6.

Baylor quarterback Dequan Finn converted a third-and-9 with a QB keeper up the middle to the Utah 22-yard line to keep the drive alive, but three plays later, Van Fillinger stopped Finn on third down and caused a 2-yard loss, leading to the field goal.

Utah starts Isaac Wilson in the second half while Cam Rising sits on the bench after suffering an apparent hand injury late in the first half.

Second quarter

Utah 23, Baylor 3

0:00 – Baylor scored a 44-yard field goal by Isaiah Hankins on the final play of the half, scoring its first point of the game. Utah 23, Baylor 3.

This came after Cole Becker missed a 45-yard field goal attempt on the previous possession.

A targeted call against Utah's Alaka'i Gilman put Baylor in position to kick the field goal, and he is out for the game.

The big story to follow right now is what happened to Cam Rising, who left the field with less than two minutes left after taking a hit and being forced off the field.

He was replaced by Isaac Wilson, who completed one of three passes for three yards and had one run for one yard after substituting for Rising on Utah's final drive of the first half.

1:47 — Interesting development here: Cam Rising apparently injured his hand on a play where he was hit near the sideline, and Isaac Wilson is playing quarterback. Rising is now on his way to the locker room.

5:21 – Utah just made history with a special teams touchdown.

Tao Johnson scored a 77-yard touchdown after a blocked field goal – the block was credited to Logan Fano, while Caleb Lohner got deep up the middle and Van Fillinger also advanced through the middle of the line.

Funnily enough, the extra point was missed in a funny series of consecutive missed shots by the special teams. Utah 23, Baylor 0.

This is the first blocked field goal that resulted in a touchdown for the Utes since Nov. 6, 1999, when Jay Hill, the former Utes assistant and now BYU defensive coordinator, returned a block 58 yards against Wyoming.

9:27 – Mike Mitchell had to be carried off the field after going down on a run. That's an injury situation to keep an eye on considering the Utes are taking a running back by committee approach.

End of the first quarter

A few notes from one quarter:

• Baylor had negative yards on offense in the first 15 minutes, namely minus 10 yards. The Bears had minus 15 rushing yards and 5 passing yards.
• Cam Rising's 25-yard run on Utah's final possession of the first quarter pushed him past the 1,000-yard career rushing mark. He is the fourth quarterback in Utah program history to reach that milestone, joining Alex Smith, Travis Wilson and Tyler Huntley.

First quarter

Utah 17, Baylor 0

0:48 – Utah scored three more points with a 30-yard field goal by Cole Becker. Utah 17, Baylor 0.

The 10-play, 74-yard offensive drive included a 25-yard pass from keeper Cam Risings and a 35-yard pass to Money Parks to put the Utes in favorable scoring position.

8:17 – This escalated quickly.

Just 20 seconds after its first touchdown, Utah took advantage of a Baylor turnover for a second consecutive touchdown.

This time, it was a short 2-yard pass from Cam Rising to Micah Bernard that led to the score after a Bears fumble gave Utah possession at the Baylor 3 early in the drive. Utah 14, Baylor 0.

This was made possible by a strip sack by Connor O'Toole, which Karene Reid recovered for a fumble.

8:37 – Utah resorted to its bag of tricks to score the first goal.

Money Parks caught the ball from Cam Rising on an end-around pass behind the line, then Parks faked a throw to Dijon Stanley running in from the other side of the formation and Parks kept the ball. It snaked up the visitors' sideline and was brilliantly blocked by Dorian Singer near the goal line to complete the 28-yard touchdown. Utah 7, Baylor 0.

Utah took four plays and went 56 yards for the touchdown, benefiting from a 15-yard pass interference penalty on its second possession of the game.
