It is now well documented that college football has entered a new era of fundamental conference restructuring.

And one of the driving factors behind this new “Wild West” is the dissolution of the Pac-12, with two of its members finding a new home on the other side of the country, in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

In the second week of the young college football season, one of those new teams will be in prime time when new ACC member SMU welcomes Big 12 member BYU to Gerald J. Ford Stadium in Dallas for a non-conference Power Four duel.
