Jimmy Fallon’s “Tonight Show” will be shortened to 4 nights a week

People turned to The Tonight Show for a comment.

This programming change is nothing unusual in the late-night world, as other talk shows have already switched to this program.

ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live! has aired four new episodes per week – and Kimmel is also taking a break in the summer. CBS classic Late Show with Stephen Colbert also broadcasts four new episodes each week, along with NBC's Late Night with Seth Meyers and Comedy Central's The daily show.

When Fallon isn't filming new episodes, he spends time with his kids.

Fallon, father of daughters Winnie (11) and Frances (9), spoke to PEOPLE in August about his children returning to school. “I don't want [them] to go to school,” Fallon joked. “I don't want them to meet other people. I don't want them to do anything. I just want them to hang out with us for the rest of their lives.”

He then said that Winnie and Frances “love their school and their friends.” “And it's another little chapter in their lives and another fun adventure.”

The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon airs weekdays at 11:35 p.m. ET on NBC.
