Angel Reese announces in a bombshell that her first WNBA season is OVER

Angel Reese has sensationally announced that her first season in the WNBA has ended due to injury.

Reese announced the news in a sensational statement on Saturday night, but did not elaborate on what exactly it was, listing her only as questionable with a wrist injury on the team's injury report ahead of Sunday's game against the Dallas Wings.

The Chicago Sky rookie wrote, “What a year. I never thought the last basket of my rookie season would be a 3, but maybe that was God's will to give them a taste of what they'll see even more of in year two.”

“I showed that I belong in this league, even when no one else believed I did. All I ever wanted was to get to the W and make a difference. I can safely say that I have accomplished that and will strive to continue to do so.”

“The fact that I have sustained a season-ending injury is filling me with emotion right now, but I am also very grateful for what comes next.”

Angel Reese surprised WNBA fans by announcing that her first season is over due to injury

Although this is God's schedule and not mine, I can finally give myself a physical and mental break. 'God gives his toughest battles to his strongest soldiers.' You'll still see me as the biggest cheerleader on the sidelines! And Unrivaled League, see you soon!'

Reese played for the Sky on Friday night as they ended their seven-game losing streak against the Los Angeles Sparks.

Reese finished the game with 24 points and 12 rebounds, recording her 26th double-double of the season (rookie record).

Reese made 9 of her 15 shots, including a 3-pointer and all five of her free throws.

After her victory on Friday, she spoke to the media for almost 15 minutes and seemed to be in high spirits. She did not mention an injury at all.

But of the team's losing streak, Reese aptly said: “Adversity builds character. It's so easy to just be on full speed and ignore things.”

The Chicago Sky team is currently battling the Atlanta Dream for a place in the postseason playoffs, so Reese's season-ending injury is a huge blow.

The Sky need Caitlin Clark — Reese's great rival — and the Indiana Fever to help them with a win against Atlanta on Sunday. Currently, both Chicago and Atlanta are 12-22 on the season.
