Alabama And Wisconsin will face off in a key non-conference game on Saturday, September 14. Depending on how the rest of the season goes, this matchup could have implications for the College Football Playoffs.

This is the first real test for Alabama to show that it will still be one of the best programs in the country under Kalen DeBoer when the Crimson Tide opened the season with a few weaker opponents in Western Kentucky and USF.

One thing to keep an eye on in Saturday’s game is whether Alabama offensive lineman Kadyn Proctor will be able to compete. The starting left tackle was injured during warm-ups before Alabama’s season opener against Western Kentucky.

Proctor was rated a five-star recruit and the country's top offensive lineman in the class of 2023 according to the On3 industry rankings.

Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer said during his coaching show last week that Proctor lives “day to day” rather than “week to week.”

DeBoer confirmed that it was a new injury to Proctor, who was certainly an important part of the offensive line before Jalen Milroe. However, he is working on getting back on the field, and DeBoer said it is clear the goal is to return quickly.

“Kadyn unfortunately sustained an injury before the game,” DeBoer said of Proctor on Hey Coach and the Kalen DeBoer Show Wednesday night. “Something new and stuff. Just things that he's going to work through. I think it's more of a day-to-day thing than a week-to-week thing. If he had the choice, he'd be on the football field this week for sure. And we'll see. We definitely just have to take it really slow here to start the week, and he's doing really well.

“I can tell you, this guy gives everything he has to get on the football field. When I say giving – I mean him and other guys who have other problems, but especially him – we're talking about six, eight hours a day in the training room. He's desperate to get out. You don't do that without having the intention of getting out sooner or later.”
