Colorado Springs woman tells what it was like when her friend was stabbed to death

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado (KKTV) – The victim's girlfriend tells 11 News she often sees Charles Olmos, a man accused of committing a stabbing on Labor Day, near her apartment complex where she says he lives.

He was arrested by police on Monday but is out on bail and now she tells 11 News she fears for her safety.

“I immediately feel sick and have a very bad feeling because I know that this person has done so much damage and it's just there,” the friend said.

She says she had to help her friend after she came to her door with a stab wound.

“He had moved his hand and blood was spurting from his back, so I knew he needed a towel to put pressure on his back,” she said. “I'm not an EMT and I'm not a crime scene cleaner, but I've done both jobs on my doorstep.”

The friend tells 11 News that she wants to remain anonymous for her own safety because the man who stabbed her friend lives nearby.

According to police, a fight broke out between a small group of people. They accused 60-year-old Charles Olmos of taking a large kitchen knife and stabbing the victim. Olmos paid his $25,000 bail.

“Watching him climb the stairs the next day was horrible and I saw him walking around the whole time as if nothing had happened,” she said.

The friend tells 11 News she is leaving her apartment complex because she no longer feels safe in her home. Olmos is due in court on September 12.
