Montana man confesses to sex crimes – Sheridan Media

A Lodge Grass, Montana man accused of sexually abusing a child on the Crow Indian Reservation has admitted to the charges, according to Montana U.S. Attorney Jesse Laslovich.

The defendant, 29-year-old Marty Edward Plenty Hawk, pleaded guilty to aggravated sexual abuse and abusive sexual contact with a child, according to the indictment.

Plenty Hawk faces a maximum sentence of life in prison, a $250,000 fine and a minimum of five years to life probation for each crime.

The case was presided over by US Judge Timothy J. Cavan.

A sentencing date will be set before U.S. District Judge Susan P. Watters.

The court will determine the sentence taking into account the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.

Plenty Hawk was detained pending the outcome of the case.

In court documents, the government alleged that between 2021 and May 2023, near Lodge Grass on the Crow Indian Reservation, Plenty Hawk coerced the victim, identified as Jane Doe 1, who was under the age of 12, into a sexual act and caused the victim to perform sexual acts.

On May 2, 2023, authorities arrested Plenty Hawk following a domestic dispute at his residence.

While incarcerated, Plenty Hawk told prison staff that he wanted to write a confession and wrote that he had had a sexual relationship with Jane Doe 1.

During the sexual assault examination of Jane Doe 1, injuries consistent with child sexual abuse were identified.

In an interview with the FBI and the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Plenty Hawk again admitted to having a sexual relationship with Jane Doe 1 and having had sexual intercourse with the victim on multiple occasions.

The US Attorney's Office is prosecuting the case.

The investigation was conducted by the FBI and BIA.
