Viral video: Internet users react to the first Apple Macintosh ad with Samir Soni | Watch

A rare Apple Macintosh advert from 1996 recently resurfaced on the internet, bringing back memories of the good old days of floppy disks and CRT monitors. The advert, featuring Bollywood actor Sameer Soni, went viral on the internet and sparked countless reactions.

The Apple Macintosh advertisement was shared by Instagram page TV1 India. Within three days of the video being posted, the advertisement received more than 53,000 likes and thousands of comments on social media.

The commercial begins with a typical office setting where a high-ranking official arrives. When the office worker, played by Samir Soni, returns to his desk, the official demands a PC to run his Windows hard drive.

At this point, Soni offers his Apple Macintosh to access the data on the Windows hard drive. After a brief discussion, Soni simply inserts the hard drive into his PC and demonstrates its compatibility with the Windows software.

The ad ends with a rainbow-colored Apple symbol and the slogan: “Does more, costs less, it’s that simple.”

Many social media users compared Samir Soni's appearance in the advertisement to that of FRIENDS character Chandler Bing. Many noted the irony in the advertisement's tagline in this day and age.

“Kids today wonder why that guy carries a memory symbol in his pocket?” commented one social media user on Instagram.
