Cooler with partly gusty winds

Video: Cooler with partly gusty wind

Matt Hoenig takes a look at when it will warm up after a cool start to the week.

It's drying out this morning. There are some areas of fog that will clear over the next few hours. The big change today will be temperatures, which are significantly cooler this Sunday with readings in the low 10s. Far north, low and mid 18s for many, some towns closer to the coast could flirt with 21s later today, it's a *** mix of sun and clouds. Far north, there may be *** scattered showers this afternoon, but for all of us *** gusty winds are coming from the west, we could reach readings of nearly 30 mph. Rough surf continues along the coast this afternoon due to an ocean storm that moved through yesterday. The high swell warning is in effect until 8pm tonight. Beachgoers along the coast are at an increased risk of surf backwash today. Speaking of the coast, it's also the third day of the Hampton Beach Seafood Festival, which runs until 6pm today along Ocean Boulevard, where the weather looks great but the skies are bright blue. Keep in mind that it will be windy and *** a little *** chilly out there. While southern New Hampshire will be in the sun today, the higher terrain will likely be in the clouds and even get a few scattered showers this afternoon. Hikers, please keep that in mind. Not only will the weather be very different, but look at the temperatures up on the peaks today. High 30s to low 40s and with *** strong winds it will feel even colder. So make sure you are prepared and frankly bring winter clothes before hitting the trails in the higher peaks this afternoon. Tonight the skies will clear, the wind will die down and temperatures will get cool overnight, around 40 degrees in the north, around 50 degrees in the south. But many of us will be in the 7-8 degree range tomorrow, the wind will not be as strong and it will be *** a little warmer, temperatures will reach the 60s in the north but the 20s in the south. *** quite a bit of sunshine through Monday. Some clouds will move through towards the end of the day and a *** weak weather system could bring some showers to the southwesternmost parts of the state. Temperatures will slowly rise over the next few days. We'll approach 27 degrees by midweek and highs will likely reach 25 degrees again on Thursday and Friday with highs and controlled weather. After that wave of showers late Monday, there will be nothing but sunshine mid to late week and into next weekend.
