Fantasy Football Rankings Week 1 (2024): PPR and Non-PPR

The 2024 NFL season has officially begun.

To help you with your toughest lineup decisions, you'll find my Week 1 fantasy football rankings below. Toggle between standard, half PPR (points per reception), and full PPR to see how players rank in your league's format.

Given the volatility of this league, and fantasy football in particular, these rankings will be updated up until half an hour before games kick off on Sunday afternoon, so let's get started.

Trevor Lawrence finished last season as QB1 in 7 of his final 11 starts. In the final six games of 2023, the Dolphins allowed the fourth-most fantasy points to quarterbacks, including a matchup with the Jets in which Zach Wilson and Trevor Siemian combined to score -2.6 points.
Justin Herbert was a top-15 quarterback in all six healthy home games in 2023, including five top-8 finishes. In seven career starts against the Raiders, he never finished worse than QB12.
Matthew Stafford finished the 2023 season on a high note, posting top-10 performances in four of his last six games. He faces a Lions team that gave up the most fantasy points to the position in the second half of the season.

Daniel Prescott has struggled on the road in 2023, finishing as QB15 or worse in six of his eight away games. He faces a Browns team that has given up the third-fewest fantasy points to the position.
Baker Mayfield last year he was never better than QB10 at home, including five times when he was QB14 or worse. Washington's defense was terrible in all phases, but they did focus a bit on the run in late 2023.

Fantasy Football Running Back Rankings for Week 1

Rachaad White gets an exciting matchup against the Commanders. In the final nine games of last season, Washington gave up a league-high 29.7 half-PPR points per game to backs. White was the RB2 in fantasy in the second half of 2023.
James Cook will face the Cardinals, the team most generous to running backs in 2023. After Joe Brady took over as Buffalo's offensive coordinator in Week 11 last year, Cook averaged 19.6 touches per game, a number that should play a role in this matchup.
Chuba Hubbard finished each of his final eight games last season as a top-30 running back, including seven times as RB25 or higher. He faces a Saints defense that was in the bottom 10 against running backs in the final 11 games of the 2023 season.

Jahmyr Gibbs faces one of the most pass-heavy defenses in the league. After Christian McCaffrey did his thing against them in Week 2 last year, only one other running back finished better than RB11 against the Rams. Gibbs is still a good start, but his potential could be limited by a pass-heavy script.
D’Andre Swift wasn't particularly efficient in a golden situation last year. After averaging nearly seven yards per carry in his first three games with the Eagles, that number dropped to just 4.03 over his final 184 attempts in 2023. He now joins a backfield with two other capable backs (Khalil Herbert and Roschon Johnson) and will face a Titans front that allowed the seventh-fewest fantasy points to the position.

Cooper Kupp has a mouthwatering matchup with the Lions, who were the ultimate pass-funnel defense in 2023. While no team gave up fewer fantasy points to the running back position than Detroit, only two teams were more generous to wideouts. Kupp finished four of his final five games last year as a top-30 receiver, including two top-five performances.
Josh Palmer should be the Chargers' de facto WR1 in 2024, and he's entering a matchup that worked well for him last year. In two games with the Raiders, Palmer totaled 77 and 113 yards, respectively. The 24-year-old has averaged 11.3 half-PPR points per game when playing above 75% in his career, which should be the case in Week 1.
Christian Kirk was healthy for 11 games last season and finished all but three as a WR31 or higher. He will face a Dolphins secondary in 2023 that was the seventh-worst against receivers.

Michael Pittman Jr. had only three games in 2023 where he finished worse than WR45, and two of those were against the Texans. Houston was tough on receivers all year, allowing the position the fifth-fewest fantasy points.
George Pickens had strange home/away splits last year. All five of his touchdowns came at home, and in six of his eight road games he finished as WR39 or lower. He faces a Falcons defense that was the seventh-best against wideouts in 2023.

Dalton Kincaid faces an exciting matchup early in the season. In the final 11 games of the 2023 season, the Cardinals allowed the fifth-most fantasy points to opposing tight ends. With Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis gone, Kincaid should get a bigger piece of the pie in 2024.
Taysom Hills finished among the top 10 tight ends in 7 of his final 11 games in 2023. The 34-year-old was the TE8 during that time, although he missed one game.
