Zillow's improved AI search shows you more homes you can't afford

Zillow is expanding its AI search feature to include the ability to find homes or rentals based on distance from your office, school, or other locations of interest. Instead of narrowing your search by selecting specific locations or filters, you can now simply type in “homes 30 minutes drive from Millennium Park.”

This will be very convenient for people like me. I'm always looking for dream homes in places I'm unfamiliar with, and now I can search for “homes near Disney World” instead of casting a huge net across all of Orlando.

Zillow also lets you search for homes to buy or rent based on affordability, such as “Seattle homes under $4,000 monthly.” Zillow first introduced AI search last year, allowing you to search for homes based on description of floor plan, location, style, condition, and more. But this update gives you more specific ways to browse listings based on proximity to specific locations and price.

Zillow says its enhanced search feature “takes user queries and sifts through millions of listing details to surface relevant results” while training AI models to “better respond to searches that use natural, human-like phrases.” The feature is rolling out now in Zillow's iOS and Android apps, with support on the Zillow website coming soon.
