Greek Olympic teacher dies in car accident

GREECE, NY — An English as a foreign language teacher at Greece Olympia died in a car crash Friday, two days after the district began its first day of school.

The Greece Central School District confirmed that Jillian Branciforte died in the crash.

“This loss affects not only Olympia, but the entire district, as Jillian's influence extended to multiple schools,” the district said in a statement.

The district's Trauma, Illness and Bereavement Team will be at the school in the coming days to support students and staff through their grief. The district has provided students and staff with more information about when the team will be on campus.

Branciforte graduated from the Hilton School in 2013, the Hilton Central School District said on its Facebook page, adding, “Our sincere condolences to all who knew and loved her.”
