Two-vehicle crash claims Indiana woman's life – Outlook for Mercer County

(9.8.24) Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Gray reports his officers are investigating a second fatal traffic crash that occurred on Saturday, September 7. Mercer County dispatch received a 911 call at 7:42 p.m. about a crash at the intersection of St Rte 118 and Frahm Pike in Hopewell Township.

Investigation revealed that Keith T Huey, 74, of Geneva, IN, was driving a silver 2000 Ford F150 pickup truck westbound on Frahm Pike. Julie A Ninde, 57, of Ossian, IN, was driving a blue 2014 Honda CR-V SUV northbound on St Rte 118. Huey failed to stop at a stop sign on Frahm Pike at St Rte 118 and was struck by the SUV. Huey was taken to the Mercer Health Emergency Department for treatment. In the passenger seat was Regina K Huey, 59, of Geneva, IN, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Ninde, the driver of the SUV, was taken to the Mercer Health Emergency Department for treatment.

It was the second fatal traffic accident in Mercer County on Saturday that claimed the life of an Indiana resident.

Members of the Rockford Fire Department, Rockford EMS, Celina Fire Department, Celina EMS and MCERV assisted on scene.

The Mercer County Sheriff's Office Accident Reconstruction Team was called to the scene. The accident remains under investigation and has been forwarded to the Mercer County District Attorney's Office for review.
