44-year-old Decatur man dies after semi-trailer crash in Ohio Saturday morning

MERCER COUNTY, Ohio (WPTA) – The Mercer County Sheriff's Office says a 44-year-old Decatur man died Saturday morning following a tractor-trailer crash in Mercer County, Ohio.

According to Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Gray, officials are investigating a crash involving a tractor-trailer that occurred around 10:45 a.m. at the intersection of State Route 49 and State Route 707 in Blackcreek Township.

An investigation revealed that an SUV was traveling eastbound on State Route 707 and a semi-truck was traveling southbound on State Route 49 when the SUV ran a stop sign at the intersection of the two roads and crashed into the passenger side of the semi-truck.

The driver of the SUV, identified as 44-year-old Kenneth A. Edwards of Decatur, was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

Chatt and Rockford Fire Departments, Rockford EMS, Celina EMS and MCERV assisted the Mercer County Sheriff's Office at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
