Bears score blocked punt for touchdown, trail 17-10 against Titans

The Bears scored a touchdown – thanks to special teams.

The Titans had a great chance when Calvin Ridley ran down the left sideline on third-and-15, but quarterback Will Levis threw it too far, allowing the fourth down.

Then Chicago's special teams came into play. Daniel Hardy stormed through the line and blocked Ryan Stonehouse's punt. Safety Jonathan Owens – who is married to Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles – found the loose ball and returned it 21 yards for the Bears' first touchdown of the season.

This allowed the Bears to close the gap to seven points and Tennessee was still ahead 17-10 with 9:07 minutes left in the third quarter.

Chicago has struggled on offense throughout the game, recording just six first downs so far, but a blocked punt that led to a score could be the boost the team needed during the debut of No. 1 overall pick Caleb Williams.
