Blinkit ordering glitch that went viral: Man orders men's underwear, receives women's bikini briefs |

In the age of online shopping, confusion and customer complaints are nothing new. A recent incident involving Priyansh, a customer of Blinkita food delivery platform owned by Zomato, has caught the attention of millions on social media. Priyansh ordered men's underwear but was surprised to receive women's bikini briefs instead. When the customer care team failed to resolve the issue, he vented his frustration on social media and his post quickly went viral.
Here are the details of the incident, the company's response (or lack thereof), and the wider impact of the online ordering glitches.

Priyansh's unexpected command at Blinkit

The incident began when Priyansh ordered Jockey men's underwear through the Blinkit app. Upon delivery, he received a package that contained three bikini briefs meant for women instead of the men's underwear he ordered. Understandably frustrated, he contacted Blinkit's customer service to request a return or refund, but his request was rejected, leaving him with no immediate resolution.
Priyansh decided to share his experience online with a tweet that read:
“Hello Blinkit [what] is this, I ordered Jockey men's underwear and you sent me this. Now how can I return it? I reported this to your help center but so far no return or refund has been made.”

Although his post received a lot of attention and was viewed over 3.2 million times, Priyansh continued to have issues with Blinkit's customer service as he was not offered a refund or return option.

Reactions on social media

Priyansh's post quickly went viral on social media and the incident became a topic of conversation across platforms. Just hours after his initial tweet, Priyansh posted an update with a humorous twist – a picture of himself in the woman's bikini briefs, with the caption:
“Update: Blinkit refused to refund my money, so I compromised.”
This follow-up post sparked a wave of reactions, ranging from humor to compassion, as users commented on the situation. Some users joked about the mix-up, with one commenting:
“It’s fashionable. Hats off!”
Another user reported his own Blinkit-related mishap, saying:
“Since I installed Blinkit, I've been making compromises. One time I ordered potatoes and ended up getting pumpkin delivered. So I made pumpkin fries.”
A third user added an insightful remark that highlighted a sentiment common among many Indians:
“We Indians don’t waste time.”
The incident even caught the attention of a clothing delivery platform, @blip.fashion, which took the opportunity to offer Priyansh an alternative. Their comment read:
“Why compromise when there is a better service? Send us your address and we will send you one.”

Blinkit’s non-reaction and political implications

Although Priyansh's posts went viral, Blinkit is yet to respond to his complaint. The platform's silence on social media has only fueled further discussions, and many users are now waiting to see how Blinkit will handle the situation.
According to Blinkit's return policy, underwear orders are strictly non-returnable for hygiene reasons. The policy specifically states:
“Once delivered, products cannot be returned, replaced or exchanged.”
However, the same directive lists certain exceptions:

  • If the product is damaged, defective or expired at the time of delivery.
  • If the product was delivered incorrectly.
  • If the product's return/exchange policy specifically allows for a return or exchange.

In Priyansh's case, although the product was delivered incorrectly, Blinkit apparently did not offer a solution, leading to his public post and the subsequent uproar on social media.
