Deshaun Watson tries to make Jameis Winston the most popular player in Cleveland

It didn't even take a full 30 minutes. Midway through the second quarter of the Cleveland Browns' opening game against the Dallas Cowboys, the boos rang out in full force and their target was Deshaun Watson.

Cleveland took a 3-0 lead thanks to a 51-yard field goal by Dustin Hopkins, but even that goal came after a short drive. The defense lined them up at Dallas' 46-yard line and they scored their first points after only 13 yards.

From then on, it was all about Dallas, as the teams went into halftime trailing 20-3. Worse still, it could have been 23-3 when Brandon Aubrey made a 66-yard field goal that was ruled out due to a delay of game.

Overall, the Browns only had one first down in the first half and Watson was a big problem.

He looks uncomfortable, inaccurate and has no desire to throw the ball far. He has completed 7 of 15 attempts for 36 yards with one interception. It could be worse, as two of his passes were nearly intercepted by rookie Caelen Carson. He has been especially worrisome under pressure, a terrible sign for a team with injuries on the offensive line.

This is the third year the Browns have tried to figure it out with Watson, but it's probably time to admit he's not the player he was in 2020. We look back nearly half a decade to find decent footage of Watson, which begs the question: How long will he remain the starter?

Cleveland is bound by Watson's contract, but that doesn't mean they have to keep him playing, especially when there's a good option behind him.

Jameis Winston was selected first overall in 2015 and threw for over 5,000 yards in his last start. He may have trouble with turnovers, but as we saw with Joe Flacco, that can be overcome. What they can't overcome is a weak offense that just got outgained 216 to 54.
