Fatal accident reported Sunday afternoon in northeast Topeka

TOPEKA, Kansas (WIBW) – One person was pronounced dead after a two-vehicle crash in northeast Topeka on Sunday, September 8.

According to a social media post, the Shawnee County Emergency Communications Center received a report of a crash with injuries near NE 62nd Street and NE Kincaid Road involving two vehicles shortly after 2 p.m.

Officers said a Dodge sedan with two occupants was traveling southbound on NE Kincaid Road and a Buick SUV with four occupants was traveling eastbound on NE 62nd Street.

The Shawnee County Sheriff said one person was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to officials, four people were transported to a local hospital by American Medical Response (AMR).

The accident is currently under investigation. An update with further information is expected tomorrow.
