Tom Jones brutally attacks Simon Cowell and reveals the truth behind Olly Murs' tense exit from The Voice

Even at the age of 84, Tom Jones proves he's still got it by singing a duet with fellow judge LeAnn Rimes as the two perform together on this week's episode of The Voice.

The couple sang a version of the Everly Brothers' “Let It Be Me” and performed for the audience while they waited between acts.

For the latest season, new judges LeAnn Rimes (42) and the McFly duo Tom Fletcher (39) and Danny Jones (38) joined veterans Sir Tom Jones (84) and Will I Am (49).

This comes as the show is proving to be a success this year, with ratings up on last year, stabilising at 2.9 million on ITV1 and ITVX.

According to ITV, the biggest increase in viewership was among 16- to 24-year-olds, which increased by 93 percent, or almost double, compared to the previous year.

Before the new season began last week, the “Sex Bomb” singer revealed that he wants to protect his voice and stop aging – by sleeping with tape over his mouth.

And he also revealed that he influenced the other judges of “The Voice” to do the same.

He told The Mail: “I'm healthy, you have to be. I sleep on my side but I tape my mouth shut.”

“I had a dry throat and saw that this would help. I've worn one on my nose for years to open up my airways.

“Now that I'm older, I don't have to look good in bed anymore. But sometimes I get up to go to the bathroom and I shock myself.”

The Voice coach also criticised the Britain's Got Talent judge's approach to the contestants, telling MailOnline: “Well, talent shows like this go too far. Simon Cowell did that.”

“You know, by saying, 'Why are you on this show? What makes you think you can sing? Who told you you can sing?' I mean… Jesus.

The singer said: “It really bothered him [Olly]he didn't like it. He's married now and has a kid, so his life has changed. But it definitely bothered him.'

“The difference between The Voice and other talent shows is that they can sing. Those who can't sing are eliminated before the first audition.”

Tom also revealed that his close friend Olly Murs was “really upset” about not appearing on the show after he was booted out after six years.

Olly admitted at the time that his departure was not amicable. It was believed that the decision was due to producers wanting to appeal to a younger audience by bringing in new judges.

Tom said: “We were both travelling a lot but when it happened we were talking quite a bit. He didn't want to go, he loved the show.”
