Rams WR Puka Nacua out against Lions due to knee injury

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua, who earned Pro Bowl honors as a rookie last season, will miss the remainder of Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions with a knee injury, the team said.

In the second quarter, Nacua landed on his knee during a catch and limped off the field before receiving a thorough evaluation by medical personnel in the blue tent on the sideline. He eventually returned for a few plays, but was then subbed out again and sat on the bench on the sideline to speak with medical personnel. Tyler Johnson took his place on the field.

The NBC broadcast showed Nacua being carried from the field to the locker room. He finished the game with four catches for 35 yards.

Nacua missed several weeks of training camp and the preseason due to a knee injury he suffered during a joint practice with the Los Angeles Chargers. Rams coach Sean McVay said at the time that Nacua landed on a bursa in his knee.

In addition to Nacua, the Rams' left guard, Steve Avila, is also out due to a knee injury.

The Rams selected Nacua 77th overall in the 2023 NFL Draft. He set NFL rookie records in receiving yards and receptions last season. In 2023, he had 105 receptions for 1,486 receiving yards and six touchdowns.
