NFL rookie quarterbacks Jayden Daniels and Bo Nix score the first touchdowns of their careers

NFL rookie quarterbacks Jayden Daniels and Bo Nix failed to win for their respective teams on Sunday, but both scored the first touchdowns of their careers.

Daniels and Nix were both first-round picks in the 2024 draft. Daniels, the reigning Heisman Trophy winner, was selected No. 2 by the Washington Commanders.

The Broncos selected Nix No. 12 after his outstanding season in Oregon.

Daniels started as QB1 against an experienced Tampa Bay Buccaneers team. Daniels completed 17 of 24 passes for 184 yards and used his legs to get on the board in the third quarter when he ran the ball from the 1-yard line into the end zone. He did not score a passing touchdown.

Tampa Bay defeated Washington 37-20.

The Denver Broncos rookie fought for the starting spot for coach Sean Payton ahead of Jarrett Stidham and Zach Wilson. Nix threw for 138 yards against the Seattle Seahawks and was intercepted twice. He also used his legs to get into the end zone. Nix scored a 4-yard touchdown with 2:09 minutes left in the game. But it was too little, too late.
