Racer Athletics: No serious injuries in Racer One incident on Saturday | News

MURRAY — It appears that an incident that occurred Saturday night during the festivities before the Murray State University football team's first home game with Butler was nothing more than a major scare at Roy Stewart Stadium.

It happened during one of Racer Athletics' most famous game-day traditions, the run of Murray State's live horse mascot Racer One around the Marshall Gage Track while led by a jockey dressed in silks in the school's navy blue and gold colors. As the horse and jockey Madison Presley were making their first run as a team in the 2024 season – the 100th in the football program's history – Presley reportedly fell onto the track in the middle of the first turn behind the south end zone.
