Tom Brady makes his debut as NFL commentator for FOX Sports

Sunday marked the first “start” of Tom Brady’s next career.

The seven-time NFL Super Bowl champion made his debut in the FOX Sports announcer's booth on Sunday as an analyst for the Dallas Cowboys-Cleveland Browns game.

Brady sat in the locker room with Kevin Burkhardt. Greg Olsen held that locker room spot last year, but on Sunday he was the analyst for the Pittsburgh Steelers' game against the Atlanta Falcons.

What Tom Brady said in his first NFL broadcast

“We're here. It's been quite a journey,” Brady noted at the start of the broadcast.

Brady spent most of the opening segment talking about the quarterbacks on both sidelines, from talk of Dak Prescott's new contract to Deshaun Watson's potential return after an injury-plagued 2023 season.

Brady said Prescott had the best season of his career in 2023.

Tom Brady's FOX Sports contract

In 2022, Brady signed a 10-year, $375 million contract with FOX Sports. His debut in the announce booth was delayed after he returned from retirement to play one more season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Brady's FOX contract is worth more than he earned during his 23-year playing career (just under $333 million).

Tom Brady's connection to the Las Vegas Raiders

Brady is reportedly close to becoming part owner of the Las Vegas Raiders.

Last month, ESPN reported that if Brady does become an NFL team owner, he would face restrictions on his career as a commentator. Due to the league's anti-gambling and anti-fixing policies, he would be denied the full access that commentary teams normally have. Those restrictions applied to the Cowboys-Browns game.

Brady was not allowed to watch opposing teams practice, enter their practice facilities, participate in live broadcasts (in person or virtually), or criticize teams or officials.
