Family of murdered DeKalb County man seeks answers 17 years after his death

DEKALB COUNTY, Georgia. – 17 years after their loved one was shot, a DeKalb County family is still searching for answers.

Lithonia resident Ladonna Shields was killed on September 8, 2007, at the old Club K near Covington Highway.

Her family hopes that someone who knows something will come forward so they can find closure and heal the wounds.

Shields' brother Devon Commons was just 14 when his sister's life was taken.

“I wish I had the opportunity to spend more time with her, talk to her more and get to know her like a sister,” Commons said. “We spent time together, went to basketball games – a Hawks game when I had a ticket for her and me. I missed that opportunity that I can't get back. But hopefully I can get some justice.”

The family is asking anyone who remembers even the smallest detail and could be helpful to contact DeKalb County Police.
