Google Doodle's latest animated artwork is all about delicious s'mores

Desserts are meant to cheer up our souls and our taste buds. And with a similar theme, Google Doodle decided to celebrate the day with animated artwork all about s'mores. The update to the Google Doodle website states: “This slideshow Doodle celebrates s'mores, the popular campfire snack made of toasted marshmallows, chocolate, and graham crackers.”
The official Google Doodle website wrote in celebration of s'mores: “Let's gather around the campfire to learn about everyone's favorite outdoor treat! Today's handmade Doodle celebrates s'mores, the delicious nostalgic campfire snack.” On this day in 1925, an article titled “Patrol Leaders Take a Trip” appeared, noting the introduction of s'mores as a new dish at Camp Andree (Girl Scout national camp).
It continues: “To make a s'more, take a long, thin stick, poke a marshmallow in one end and toast it over a flame. When it's toasted the way you like it, break a graham cracker in half, add the chocolate and press the marshmallow in the middle to make a sandwich. Fun fact: The s'more first appeared in a 1920s cookbook and was called the “graham cracker sandwich.” The candy became popular with Girl Scouts, who called the treat “Some More,” which eventually became S'more.”
“While traditional s'mores only have three ingredients, some have gotten creative and expanded the recipe with caramel, jam, peanut butter or cookies. However you make them, enjoy a s'more to say a fitting farewell to summer!” the post concludes.
For those unfamiliar, a s'more is a dessert consisting of a toasted marshmallow and chocolate sandwiched between two graham crackers. The name is short for “some more.” S'mores are also popular in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom, and are traditionally prepared over a campfire.
