Harris' campaign team “downplays her performance before it even happens”

The panelists of “The Big Weekend Show” discuss the established rules of the upcoming ABC News presidential debate between former President Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris.

“The headlines aren't going to be about the tour de force, because the campaign is already downplaying her performance before it even happened,” said Griff Jenkins, national correspondent for Fox News.

“[The Trump campaign] offered her three debates, which is really done out of respect for the American people and voters [for candidates] to get their vote on Election Day,” said Fox News contributor Katie Pavlich.

“We've always had three debates, right? One is this format that we'll see on Tuesday night, one is a citizen's debate and then one focuses on foreign policy,” said Fox News contributor Joe Concha. “[Harris] was offered a Fox News debate, and she did not want to accept this debate because Bret Baier [and] Martha MacCallum will ask relevant, important and difficult questions. She definitely doesn't want anything to do with that.”

Following the model of the first presidential debate between Trump and Biden in July, each candidate's microphone will be on while he or she answers questions, while the other candidate's microphone will remain muted until it is his or her turn to speak.

ABC News also reported that Trump and Harris will have two minutes to answer each question, followed by another two minutes to respond and “an additional minute for a follow-up question, clarification or answer.”

No candidate will be allowed to bring pre-written notes onto the stage. There will be no opening statements from either party and each contestant's closing statements will be limited to 120 seconds.

“These are the rules that the BidenHarris campaign agreed. And if I were Donald Trump, I would say this over and over again: If you want to solve all the problems in this country that your government has created, why haven't you done it already,” Concha continued.[They] own this, [Trump is] not the incumbent, [Harris] is the incumbent – that is what Donald Trump should hammer home.”

“It is obviously absurd [Harris] to get to this point in the process without any real interviews, without any real questions, without any follow-up questions, and I expect they'll be very pleased with their performance, whatever it turns out to be. And that's a huge advantage that the Democrats have over the Republicans in this propaganda environment.Said Mollie Hemingway of Fox News.
