“The last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family. Life as you know it can change in an instant and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and the unknown path.”

Middleton, 42, said her journey through cancer has been “complex, frightening and unpredictable” for her and her family and has given her a new perspective on everything.

“More than anything, this time has reminded William and me to reflect on and be grateful for the simple but important things in life that so many of us often take for granted,” she continued.

The mother of three said she is now doing everything she can to stay cancer-free.

“Although I have completed chemotherapy, my road to healing and full recovery is long and I must continue to take each day as it comes,” she wrote. “However, I am looking forward to returning to work and making a few more public appearances in the coming months when I can.”

Middleton said she and William, 42, were “so grateful for the support we have received and have drawn great strength from all those who are helping us during this time.”

In March, Middleton announced that she had been diagnosed with cancer – more than a month after her father-in-law, King Charles III, announced his own cancer diagnosis.

The Queen said at the time that the cancer diagnosis had come as a “huge shock” to her and her family and that she and the future King wanted to keep the matter confidential.

Middleton stayed out of the public eye for most of her treatment, making public appearances only at the Trooping the Colour parade in June and the Wimbledon tennis championships in July.

The type of cancer the princess suffered from was never disclosed.
