Anonymous threats target schools in Colorado

The Eagle County Sheriff's Office said an “alarming post” on social media mentioned schools in Colorado. Students at an Englewood campus were bused to another school.

ENGLEWOOD, Colorado – An anonymous tip that an explosive device was located in a building on the campus of an Englewood school prompted school officials to bus students to another school in the district.

According to Englewood police, the threat was directed at Englewood High School, Englewood Middle School and Englewood Leadership Academy. The schools are located in the 3800 block of South Logan Street.

The anonymous tip indicated that there was an explosive device in the building, Englewood police said. Out of an abundance of caution, the students were bused to another school, police said.

At around 10 a.m., police said officers had searched the school and found nothing suspicious.

People were told to stay away from the area while the investigation continued.

Early Monday morning, the Eagle County Sheriff's Office had posted an “alarming post” on social media on its Facebook page that listed various schools across Colorado as targets. According to the sheriff's office post, schools in Texas were also mentioned.

The Eagle County Sheriff's Office said it found no evidence to support the claims made in the post, but said there will be an increased police presence at the schools on Monday.

The Lake County School District also mentioned the social media posts and said it has been in contact with law enforcement. Schools in that district will be locked down on Monday to ensure student safety.
