Wild video shows plane forced to land after flames erupt from engine

An aircraft had to make an emergency landing due to an engine failure in the air.

IndiGo flight 6E0573 was en route to Bengaluru, India on August 30, but had to return to Kolkata minutes after takeoff.

Footage taken by a passenger shows sparks coming from the engine and smoke billowing from under the wing.

The plane was carrying 173 passengers and crew, all of whom were evacuated to safety. It landed in Kolkata at 23:05 with a single engine.

No injuries were reported.
